Green Factory
Manufacturing Built Around a Lower Footprint
Solar power, water recycling and a zero-liquid-discharge tannery - the Green Factory initiatives reduce Kings International's environmental footprint at the source, not just on paper.
What Makes It Green
Measured reductions, not just intentions.
Zero-Liquid-Discharge Tannery
Since 2015
Process water is treated and recycled on site rather than discharged, cutting the facility's freshwater draw and keeping effluent out of the local water table.
Lime Water & Salt Recovery
Roughly 600 KL of lime water recycled annually and around 6 kg of salt recovered per hide, keeping both out of the effluent stream.
Solar Power
Solar capacity supplements the facility's energy load, reducing reliance on grid power for day-to-day operations.
Hair Saving Recovery
UNIDO-selected, 2016
Hair is mechanically recovered from the tanning process instead of chemically dissolved, cutting Chemical Oxygen Demand in effluent by half and repurposing the recovered hair as organic fertiliser.
Ongoing Commitments
Built into daily operations, not a one-time upgrade.
- Water and energy use tracked and reported as part of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems.
- REACH-compliant chemicals used throughout tanning and finishing.
- Effluent independently assessed against discharge norms by the Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI).
- Sustainable Leather and MSME ZED Gold certified for both the tannery and leather goods divisions.
